Research discoveries of today, while eating mass amounts of free ginger snaps-------

To see: this artist, Piotr Uklaski's film, Summer Love: The First Polish Western

A Purchase alum, Gregory Crewdson, who's been featured in the Met, MoMA, Whitney, and teaches at Yale. His photographs, some "staged" on the sound stage of MASS MoCA, and some "on location" in small MA towns, during some of which entire neighborhoods are shut down for shooting, and the local Fire Department becomes involved. Hauntingly [post-?] apocalyptic and/or expressing currently dreadful, hopeless suburban life.

I'm still very unsure of how I feel about Damien Hirst's credibility. General gossip has made me feel he is a bullshitter and art profit-mongler, but certain critical views sway me to swoon over his proposed intelligence.

In senior sem I was introduced to this artist, who I am completely infatuated with. Her paintings are so incredibly gothic, dry, void of any hope or joy, full of despair and loneliness. She is for sure on the side of Dana Schutz, and only recently have I made the connection to these artists and the despairing economy of our nation which is also portrayed in music as the current goth or grave wave umbrella. Her music videos, on the site under "Film" are also quite worthy of your time.
